THE East New Britain disaster committee has donated K50,000 worth of relief supplies to the displaced Kadovar Islanders at the Dandan Care Centre in East Sepik, Wewak district development authority chief executive officer Martin Maingu says.
“These supplies include clothes, cooking utensils, gardening tools and other necessary and K20,000 in cash,” he said.
“These items with the cash were contributed and donated by concerned residents in East New Britain to their provincial committee.
“The committee brought them to the care centre last Thursday but the K20,000 was deposited into the Kadovar Disaster Account.
“The Mineral Resource Authority donated K5000 to the centre and it was also deposited into the disaster account.”
Maingu said K10,000 worth of food were delivered to the centre last Saturday which was part of government’s attempt to help the displaced Kadavor Islanders.
“That K10,000 is from the K1.5 million relief funds given by the national government.”
