Caritas target date April
The National, Thursday February 19th, 2015
THE 36-by-22-metre Caritas sport facility is set to be completed by April.
The facility has an 800-seat capacity and will be accommodating three sports — taekwondo, boxing and bodybuilding.
Construction began last year in May and according to Caritas Technical Secondary School director Sr Florentina Cho, the facility would be completed on time because work was in its final phase.
Sr Florentina said despite the Government committing K4 million to help build the facility only given K2m was released.
She said the project was worth around K12m and all parties involved had paid the amount allocated for their scope of works.
Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko visited the school last week and was pleased with the progress.
The Caritas Gym was meant to be for the school itself but as the regional event approaches and the uncertainty surrounding Games infrastructure, the venue is being considered as a possible alternative.
