Carrier ties up with Pukpuks

ONE of PNG’s leading air conditioning suppliers and servicers PNG Air Conditioning Ltd presented the PNG Pukpuks with K50,000 and took become the team’s major sponsor for the Oceania Cup in Port Moresby next week.
The funding went towards covering accommodation and uniform expenses for the team which is camped at the University of PNG.
The university will also host visiting teams the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Niue who begin arriving on Saturday for the tournament which begins next Tuesday.
PNGRFU operations manager Ako Maniana said the union was grateful to have the support of PNG ACL for the first time.
“PNG Air Conditioning under the Carrier brand have come forth to sponsor the uniform, practice kit and the walkout uniform and along with our consistent backers the National Gaming Control Board and Boroko Motors and we are grateful for the assistance,” Maniana said.
Pukpuk assistant coach Kevin Rooney said the uniforms were a great motivating factor for the Oceania Cup defending champions.
“The boys were switched on when they received their gear and it is good to know that companies are serious in supporting the sport and they’re committed to making that recognition,” Rooney said.
“We’re going to put our best foot forward and take on the FORU Cup.
“We are the defending champions and going out there to do our best and make our sponsor, union and fans proud,” he said.
The Pukpuks are set to have a full complement when head coach Shane Howarth and members of the PNG sevens team return from Gold Coast 7s on Monday.
