A MAGISTRATE has warned a 31-year-old woman charged with stealing by false pretence not to steal again after striking her case out at a Waigani committal court on June 30.
Magistrate Paul Puri Nii told Egai Samson from Ekele village, Koroba in Hela that the court had decided to strike out her case due to a lack of police evidence.
“Your case has been struck out by this court and a court order will be given to you to be reinstated back to work,” he said.
It was alleged that on Aug 3, 2021, Samson borrowed K2,000 from McKenzie James and agreed to repay the money on a fortnightly basis with 50 per cent interest.
Samson was working as the assistant supervisor admission at Port Moresby General Hospital when she borrowed the money from James through a third party.
Samson told James to transfer the funds she borrowed to an account number belonging to a colleague.
Samson initially paid K1,000 through a funds transfer to James on Tues, Aug 17, 2021, and promised to pay the remaining K2,000 the following fortnight.
James followed up the payment the next fortnight but Samson asked to repay at a later date.
Four months transpired with the accumulated interest building the repayment to K10,000 but Samson did not pay.
It was alleged that Samson deliberately gave the account number of her colleague so that James would not know her identity.
