Case revoked, charges to be amended

The Boroko District Court dismissed an assault case against three men because police failed to state clearly the nature of the charges.
Magistrate Alex Kalandi on Wednesday directed police to amend the charges against Laban Boy, Moses Isaac and Nathan Punga who had allegedly assaulted Yapi Owai at Morata in the NCD. The court will hear the new charges against the trio on July 27.
Police said on July 9, the three men from Dei council in Western Highlands, approached Owai at Morota one at around noon and assaulted him. Boy used a bush knife to slice the victim on the left side of his face.
They were arrested on July 11 and charged with assault.
