AN assault case was withdrawn from the Waigani Committal Court last Wednesday after a compensation payment was made to the complainant.
Bani Aso allegedly touched Filma Gadebo in an indecent way and embarrassed her in public.
Senior magistrate Cosmos Bidar said the case was withdrawn on payment of compensation by Aso to Gadebo.
“The complainant has accepted K400 as compensation and has withdrawn the charges,” Bidar said.
It was alleged that on the morning of May 25, Aso, who was employed as a cleaner at the National Housing Commission head office at Tokarara (NCD), grabbed Gadebo’s  buttocks after she said greeted him.
That resulted in a loud argument and attracted attention from the public.
Gadebo felt embarrassed and reported the matter to police.
