VETERAN netball coach Veitu Diro ended a three-day school holiday coaching clinic yesterday at Rita Flynn netball court.
The clinic was meant for her Esco Telstars netball club players but had opened door for players from other clubs as well.
Diro said the clinic started on Tuesday and ended yesterday.
“The clinic basically emphasises the basics of the game, which a lot of clubs fail to teach to young players at an early age,” she said.
“This was one of the major reasons our senior competitions are not strong … because of the lack of basic skills.”
Diro said the clinic should have run for more than three days but the 2012 national elections had disrupted the programme.
“We are security conscious for our junior female players during the election period so we decided to have a three-day coaching clinic,” she said.
