Catholic professionals celebrate dedication, Eucharist

THE Catholic Professionals Society Port Moresby Chapter celebrated their 2021 dedication and opening Eucharist at St Peter Chanel, Erima Parish, on Saturday.
The Holy Eucharist was presided by Apostolic Nuncio to PNG and Solomon Islands Archbishop Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal.
Concelebrants at the Mass were Fr Michael Polszczyca, SVD, parish priest of St Peter’s Erima and Fr Ambrose Pereira, SDB, spiritual director of the Catholic professionals.
In his homily, the Apostolic Nuncio Vayalunkal expressed gratitude for the work of the Catholic professionals and encouraged them to continue to be “a light that illuminates and the voice that proclaims the gospel message of Christ” to the world.
The occasion was also a farewell to Vayalunkal by the Catholic professionals.
President Paul Harricknen expressed gratitude to the Nuncio for his open friendship and interest in the work of the Catholic professionals.
Harricknen said the Apostolic Nuncio was a professional friend who did not hesitate to offer counsel and exchange information on pastoral, socio-economic and political issues of national and international concerns and interests,
Meanwhile, yesterday was Ash Wednesday which marked the start of Lent – the six-and-a-half week period leading up to Easter Sunday.
The period of Lent is seen as a time of solemn observance and preparation for the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus at Easter.
