A POOR turn out at the Hohola Basketball Courts resulted in the cancellation of games last week and pushing back the start of Capital Basketball League to this weekend.
CBL executives called on all affiliate clubs to attend games starting at 9am tomorrow with the junior divisions.
A proposed corporate challenge that was to be held last month did not eventuate due to the same reason but it has been moved to a later date.
However, the executives are working around the clock to make sure the games start on time otherwise CBL could miss out on the BFPNG-sanctioned events this year.
And the most important event is the junior selection for the national team as well as seniors in which a squad was been named last month.
This weekend’s opening pre-season encounter will see Jazz taking on Saints on court one while on court two, it will be a reply of last year’s grand final between Tamaraws and Exodus.
Despite the majority of both teams’ starting players participating at the Arafura games, it should give the respective coaches a chances to roll out their reserves and work on combinations and plays this early in the season.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, a much improved National Gaming Control Board Ex-Diwai will take on Chariots in the men’s main game.
