COCA-Cola Ipatas Cup’s (CCIC) National Capital District (NCD) and Central leg will kick off on Feb 23, coordinator Simon Maima says.
He said the matches would be played at the Bava Rugby Park.
Maima told The National that the prolonged delay of the tournament was due to registered teams not returning their players forms on time.
He also appealed to the teams and their players to be organised in order for games to start as scheduled.
“Team managements need to get their acts together and be ready so we start and finish on time,” he said. “We want to take a professional approach and manage the tournament well so there is improvement on and off the field.
“We can cannot do the same things all the time; we have to change and move forward to develop the game. We are hiring the venue and everyone must make an attempt to attend matches on time and to finish on the schedule time given by the venue management.”
Maima said 34 teams were confirmed for participation in the Central/NCD leg of the Cocai-Cola Ipatas Cup.
Teams: ID24, McGregor Wings, Dragons, Harbour City Tornados, Bang 36 (Royals), Paga Panthers, Border Storms, Toks Mix Dogs, IPA Tribes, Redsea Butterflies, Wildlife Pythons, M2 Mumuts, TPDC Erima Wanderers, Waigani Irelais, 2-Mile United, 9-Mile Giants, Hohola Emerging, FK Vabu Dust, Bomai Eagles, Central Ace 54 Bears, 289 Gamblers, 7-Mile Jets, Vadavada United, Waghi Kondis Colts, Giluwe Tribes, Yalibu Hawks, Tia Broncos, ATS DC3, PNG Ports Rainbow Rangers, 38 Dogs, Udaba Reds, TVA Dolphins, City Redbacks and 2-4 Thunder.
