TEACHERS from the Moresby South Community Pre-school in the nation’s capital yesterday joined teachers worldwide to celebrate their achievements and acknowledge the challenges.
The school’s community-based volunteers and retired teachers observed the day with children aged three to four, regarded to as early child learners.
“Children must be able to develop the enthusiasm of learning and be able to maintain that desire to be educated later on in life,” Hoge Baeau, trainer and coordinator of the training centre, said.
The pre-school was launched in 1999 by Moresby South MP Dame Carol Kidu at the Koki training centre and had since spread to other communities.
There are currently about 20 of these establishments in the National Capital District.
Teachers teaching children at this age group are specialised as it takes a lot of patience and self sacrifice to make the leaning process successful at the early age.
