Celebrations should have been cancelled

Letters

WE now have a surge in the deadly Coronavirus (Covid-19) Delta variant.
The Covid-19 National Control Centre should be blamed for not cancelling the 46th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
It is clear that there was a surge in Delta variant cases right after the celebrations.
Had the centre cancelled all celebrations throughout the country, this surge would not occur.
The National Control Centre’s lack of action has now prompted it to impose stringent measures, which will affect many of us who are struggling to put bread and butter on the table for our kids.
Measures can be put in place, but if there is no enforcement by the authorities, the measures are useless.
Let us just live with Covid-19.
