Central hospital gets funding assistance

THE Government has allocated K15 million for initial works on the Central Provincial Hospital that was launched at Bautama in Central last year.
Central Governor Robert Agarobe said the Central health authority (CPHA) would use the funding to meet some requirements as part of initial stages of construction of the hospital.
“We have been pushing for the CPHA to fast-track on clearing of the area so that we could pick up the funds,” he said.
Agarobe said progress of the 300-bed and K700 million hospital was beyond him and it was up to the Planning and Treasury Departments.
“The province part was the allocation of the 50 hectares of land and the National Government was responsible for its financing,” he said.
Agarobe said the delay in the progress of the hospital was because Central missed out on the Government’s year-marked plans to build provincial hospitals last year.
“The province was included through the provincial government’s efforts to have a new hospital.”
