Central leaders sworn into provincial assembly

CENTRAL’S six Parliamentary leaders were sworn in as members of the provincial assembly yesterday in Port Moresby.
Magistrate Alex Kalandi officially swore them in at the provincial headquarters assembly chamber.
Central Governor Rufina Peter was sworn in first followed by Abau MP Sir Puka Temu, Hiri-Koiari MP Keith Iduhu, Kairuku MP Peter Isoaimo, Rigo MP Sir Ano Pala and Goilala MP Casmiro Aia.
Witnessing the ceremony were local level government (LLG) presidents and representatives from Central’s five districts.
Peter was also invited into the chamber as chair to the assembly members.
The five open MPs and the LLG presidents congratulated Peter as the province’s first woman governor.
Peter acknowledged the people of Central and promised to carry on the legacy her seven predecessors had built.
She promised to provide value based servant leadership and focus on socio-economic development.
“In three years’ time we will celebrate this county’s 50th Independence anniversary and as the mandated leader for Central we will revisit the major issues of the province,” she said.
Peter pledged to work with the five open MPs and LLG presidents in her term.
