THE Central Province Premier League semifinals will coincide with the 43rd Independence Day celebrations at Murray Barracks Oval on Sunday.
This was confirmed by CPPL competition director Murray Peto during the club president’s meeting last Saturday.
The semifinals will feature top two teams from the National Capital District, Kairuku-Hiri, Goilala and Aroma Coast zones.
The top eight teams in the women’s in NCD will follow a similar format with the competition introduced this season to meet a Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League requirement.
Peto said most of the women were first timers to a full contact sport and had gone through seven rounds.
“We have good talent coming through and we’re trying to develop them by giving them opportunities,” Peto said.
