BRISBANE-based Joe Iava won the Moresby Arts Theatre (MAT) centenary logo competition on Saturday.
His was judged to be the best of the 39 entries to mark MAT’s 100 years during the MAT craft and market show in Port Moresby.
The vice-president for MAT Hamish George announced the winner selected and recommended by MAT Facebook users.
Iava, from Central, but who lives in Brisbane did not come but his mother Kila Iava was presented his prize, K500 free tickets to theatre shows this year.
“When all the entries were sent in, we used our Facebook page to upload the design logos from the participants and three logos were preferred,” George said.
He said logo designs were submitted to the MAT office and were also on display during the craft market show.
Iava’s entry was selected because it was a mask logo and strong graphically.
George said the logo was stylish, had the scenario or image of theatre and significant masks which had met the criteria for the competition.
“It will be used on T-Shirts, picture profiles on the Facebook page, banners and as advertising and letterhead for MAT,” he said.
