TWO men died in separate road accidents in Central last Monday, provincial police commander John Maru says.
A man fell off a moving vehicle and died from head injuries at Magarida on the Magi Highway.
Jackson Koramba, 21, from Magaubo, Central, fell off a Mazda Titan dump truck, around 9.30am while on his way to Port Moresby.
Police reports said Koramba suffered serious injuries to his head and face.
Koramba was from Agaun in Milne Bay but was a blockholder at the Baelebo rubber estate.
He said Koramba had been travelling in an overloaded truck and was standing at the rear of the vehicle when he lost his grip and fell.
Police said the driver fled after the incident.
In the second accident, one man from the highlands died and a female accomplice suffered injuries after their vehicle skidded off the road and crashed into bushes in Kaiau, Agevairu, on the Hiritano Highway.
Maru said the cause of the accident was speeding.
He said they were travelling in a grey station wagon towards Inauabui and were understood to be betelnut buyers.
Maru urged drivers to take extra precaution when travelling on the highways.
