THE third quarter school subsidies worth K3,134,125 for Central are now in the final stages to be distributed to its five districts this week.
A team from the provincial administration’s education division has, however, issued stern instructions not to hand out subsidies to schools which failed to submit acquittals for their 2009 and the first quarter component of 2010 subsidies.
“No acquittals, no subsidy,” provincial education adviser Titus Hatagen said yesterday.
The team is currently in Abau.
They will later visit Rigo, Bereina, Hiri and Goilala districts respectively.
Hatagen made an appeal to school head teachers and board of management to ensure that the funds received be put to educational purposes.
“I appeal to head teachers and school board to ensure that the subsidies be spent on materials that will be used for students learning.
“All school boards must be aware that they will be held responsible if acquittals of school subsidies are not received,” Hatagen said.
He was unable to indicate which schools had failed to submit their acquittals or provide the breakup for each district.
“We may ask church agencies to assist schools who have problems and do not acquit their school subsidies if they have not acquitted school fee subsidies for 2009 and first quarter subsidy for this year,” Hatagen said.
