THE Telikom National Soccer League will play its final round matches for 2011 before the Christmas break tomorrow.
But the moment of truth has arrived for Gigira Laitepo Central Coast FC who need to win the remaining matches to show that they are serious contenders for the minor premiership title – a ticket to O-League championships.
They play the PNGFA youth team Besta United at Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby.
The Wesley Waiwai-coached Central Coast fell back to fourth spot and The National was reliably informed that the split between the local Central management and the City Central boys had a lot to do with their downfall.
Already National Soccer League officials are wary of the way the management of Central FC is conducting their business, and this may be one of the contributing factors to their slump from first to fourth position.
Internal problems aside, Central Coast will be out to make their final game of 2011 count against Besta who already claimed a top scalp (Hekari) to their name at the venue.
In Lae, soccer supporters are expected to be treated to a feast of football when Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium hosts two men’s soccer matches – in a Port Moresby versus Lae showdown.
The opening match will see Eastern Star challenge Morobe Mining Joint Venture (MMJV) Bulolo FC while the main game will see Hekari United take on NBS Tukoko University.
Victory would not only be a boost for the franchises before the second half of the season next year but  it would be a great Christmas present for loyal supporters. This will certainly push the players to put an extra effort.
Leaders Hekari United have come back to cement their position at the top of ladder with 19 points ahead of Eastern Star and Besta who have moved into the next two positions after early leaders Gigira Laitepo Central Coast FC fell away.
Despite starting the season Eastern Star poorly now sit on second spot in the standingsahead of Besta and Central Coast.

The opening match will see Hekari play Inter University which should be an interesting clash with the Hekari girls keen on emulating their men’s form.
The points ladder as of last weekend: Mungkas 6, Yamaros 4, University 1 and Hekari 0.
In Lae,  Bara and Poro will battle it out to see who will claim top spot  tomorrow.
Both teams shared six points apiece after their two impressive wins, and this match is certainly going down to the wire.
In the main match, Wau FC from the Wau/Bulolo electorate will take on city girls in PNG Power.
The points ladder in the Lae conference as of last weekend: Bara 6, Poro 6, PNG Power 0 and Wau 0.
