THE Port Moresby Adventist Book Centre (ABC) open day last Sunday was described as a “great success” and bigger than any previous open day.

It was held at the Ela Beach Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church.

Emily Lassah, ABC’s supervisor, said the sheer volume of the stock made it a big event.

“The most exciting thing to see on Sunday was the number of Bibles parents bought, especially for their children,” Lassah said.

“What better gift for a child than a Bible.”

Peter Iga, the education director for SDA education conference, and his associate Dorcas Kuma, encouraged Adventist schools to buy books for their libraries.

A visitor from Signs Publishing Company in Australia, Pr Kevin Geelan, who is in charge of all Pacific ABCs, was impressed with what he saw.

Some SDA churches cancelled their church camps and meetings to support the day.

Lassah said it was a satisfying experience to see volumes of books sold to people from all walks of life.
