THE National Command Centre (NCC) in Port Moresby was closed for fumigation on Wednesday, after an official tested positive for the Covid-19 on Tuesday.
The officer, who is now at the Rita Flynn medical facility, is understood to have been in close contact with top officials including Prime Minister James Marape, Health Minister Jelta Wong, Controller David Manning and acting Health secretary Dr Paison Dakulala.
Wong has since gone into self-quarantine. Marape and a delegation went to Goroka and Lae to attend events.
Two journalists were told to go to quarantine facilities following the positive case at the NCC.
Dakulala said this week that anyone who wanted to could be tested.
But NCC staff told the journalists that they would have to be quarantined for 14 days before being tested.
