Centre gets K4mil for projects
THE Badili Vocational Centre has received a K4.1 million funding from the European Union (EU) for the construction of workshops, ablution blocks, water and septic tanks.
EU Ambassador Jernej Videti said many Papua New Guinean youths sought employment and many were either unemployed or underemployed.
“Improving technical and vocational training will help reduce unemployment and lead to a more prosperous society,” he said.
“Promoting vocational training is also in line with the Government’s Vision 2050 and PNG’s strategic development plan 2010-2030. “It is also a priority for the EU’s global plan to reduce unemployment rate.”
Videti said over the past 10 years, in close cooperation with the Government, the EU had been actively supporting education, including technical and vocational education in PNG with a total grant funding of about K160 million.
“One of the recent EU Union human resources development programme 2 is the construction of infrastructure and the supply of equipment to 10 TVET centres in various districts.”
