HEALTH centres in Silur and Manga, in New Ireland, have been given an ambulance each.

The Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd donated the ambulance for Silur after a request from New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan to help improve health service delivery in remote Konoagil.

The company was represented by deputy chairman Eno Daera, director Janet Sios, chief executive officer Joe Wemin and manager operation Helen Koka at the hand-over ceremony.

The one for Manga was launched by Namatanai MP Byron Chan.

The Namatanai joint district planning and budget priorities committee aims to provide ambulances for all the remote health centres.

Sir Julius and Konoagil president James Pandi were present with members of the provincial executive council and assembly.

Sir Julius said: “The contribution of the ambulance will touch the hearts of the people in the least developed areas. It will provide life-saving health services to the under-privileged.

“This is a true sign of cooperation and enhanced partnership for New Ireland development.”
