Centres yet to confirm PNG Games participation

ONLY two provinces, National Capital District and host Morobe, have confirmed participation in all the 29 sports on offer at this year’s PNG Games.
The other 19 provinces which have confirmed attendance have until end of this month to nominate which sports they will field teams in what is expected to be the biggest games since its inception.
Despite only two provinces confirming their sports, an excited PNG Games chairman Edris Kumbruwah said all the provinces have confirmed participation at the November games.
These information was provided at the Games Council meeting in Lae two weeks ago.
“All the provinces have until the end of this month to confirm the number of sports they will be participating in,” Kumbruwah said.
Though concerns were raised over facilities not being ready on time, Kumbruwah and the Council members are optimistic that the host organising committee will deliver on time following an inspection of the various venues.
Kumbruway said HOC is offering 29 sports but that will again depend on the provinces nomination of sports they wanted to field teams in.
