COFFEE Industry Corporation (CIC) chief executive officer Anton Benjamin urged farmers in Jiwaka ‘to quit playing card games for small money’.

He encouraged them to be more involved in coffee production to earn more.

“You must stop playing cards and stop being lazy and grow more coffee to get more money, playing cards for small money is wasting your time,” he said.

He said growing more coffee in Jiwaka will be a boost the industry.

“Ask yourself when you have land available why you do not grow coffee,” Benjamin said.

He said the government had invested a lot in the coffee industry in the past 15 years. Despite that, he said nothing tangible had been achieved with growers facing difficulties in accessing markets, law and order issues affecting productions.

Benjamin said under CIC’s ‘coffee revitalisation and strategic plans’, measures are being initiated to address some of these challenges.
