AIR Niugini will have additional routes for the airline’s domestic sector, which comes into effect on Saturday, acting chief executive Simon Foo said.

The changes are all part of the airline’s focus this year to improve services on the airline’s domestic sector, he said.

The new routes include Rabaul-Hoskins-Lae  every Monday and Thursday with the return service via the same routes.

The aircraft stays overnight in Rabaul.

On Wednesday, it will fly from Rabaul to Hoskins and Lae.

The return service will operate direct from Lae to Rabaul overnight.

The flight on Saturday will operate from Rabaul to Lae, then Lae to Hoskins and back to Rabaul.

There will be an increase of Tari service on Sunday with two flights operating on that day.

This now brings to total nine flights to Tari in a week.

Mendi will also see an extra service operating on Tuesday and Saturday, which increases to four flights a week to Mendi.

Port Moresby-Buka will see direct services every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

On the international sector, Air Niugini will begin operating the Boeing 737 aircraft to Narita, Japan on Saturday, while leased B757 aircraft would start services between Port Moresby and Brisbane every Monday and Saturday and to Manila on Wednesday and Friday.
