Chairman apologises for delay

 THE National Soccer League (NSL) board officially confirmed the delayed 2014 season would kick off this weekend in Port Moresby and Lae.

Board chairman Isaac Lupari in a media statement said the seasonseason would begin at Bisini Ground on Saturday.

While calling on all fans to support soccer, Lupari apologised for the delay to the season saying it was due to circumstances beyond their control referring court action by FC Port Moresby. Lupari said appropriate measures were now in place to ensure that a similar situation did not occur in the future.

Two matches in Port Moresby would see Oro take on newcomers, Admiralty face off in the first match at 12.30pm while the main game has reigning champions Hekari United clashing with Milne Bay’s Eastern Star.

At Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium, Gigira Laitep Morobe take on Lae while Besta United have the bye.

The highlight of the season opner would be the entertainment to be provided by the Quakes Band, the Velocity and Tavata dance groups courtesy of major sponsor Telikom PNG.
