THE Central Supply and Tenders Board does not perform monitoring roles because of a lack of resources, chairman Philip Eludeme said.

Eludeme was answering questions from the Public Accounts Committee during an inquiry on Wednesday following the Auditor-General’s recommendation.

Auditor-General Philip Nauga had recommended that to make procurement managers accountable, the board and agencies should establish performance indicators for reporting purchasing activities and to monitor the indicators against outcomes and government procurement policy.

PAC chairman John Hickey said this particular recommendation was very important to extend the CSTB’s oversight duties and to ensure coordinated procurement.

Eludeme said: “CSTB’s task does not perform monitoring roles due to lack of resources and the required organisational structure.”
