Chairman: Support human resource development
The National, Monday February 8th, 2016
SUPPORTING human resource development is the foundation to advance any society in the world.
Kama Scholars Foundation deputy chairman Robert Kama made the remarks during the sponsorship presentation to 21 students in Kundiawa last week.
The students will be continuing into high schools this year.
“In order for a society to advance forward, the most important aspect is to develop its human capital.
“And we have started providing sponsorship to students from the remote primary schools in Gumine District since 2013 and so far, we have provided financial assistance to 56 students since 2013,” Kama said.
He said the students were selected by the school academic staffs and boards based on students discipline and outstanding academic performances.
“We only provide the sponsorships but the selections are done by the schools themselves.”
Kama said the three schools include Gumine, Nondri and Mul Primary school grade 8 students that graduated last year.
Parent representative Peter Yoba: “As a parent, such sponsorship gives us great motivation and also our children are excited because they feel special and important of who they are.
“It gives them great courage and motivation to take pride in their education and I am very thankful to KSF.
“Also, in remote places, the cash flow is very low and to afford for the school fees, it’s very difficult and we really appreciate the effort KSF made to provide financial assistance for our students.”
Each student was given K100 e which included a total of K2700.
