THE Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted its first networking event on Wednesday at the Helifix hangar in Port Moresby.
It was attended by more than 60 members and participants including the chief executive officer of Helifix PNG Robert Agarobe.
Agarobe shared his personal experience of growing up as a young entrepreneur.
He told the participants that networking was an important tool in business.
Chamber president Christopher Elphick said the event was part of a drive to bring together young members of the business community to share information and experiences, and to learn from each other.
Elphick said as a young organisation, the chamber had strived to encourage, conduct awareness and build its membership.
“Most importantly, we want to keep a solid and energised membership, where people can come into these events,” he said.
“Rather than just the networking part, we want to touch on their personal and career development as well as coming together to helping the community.”
Vice president Sharlene Gawi said while the events were based on building networks, this year would focus more on incorporating that with how to involve themselves in communities and that is where we need a better network.
