THE Madang Chamber of Commerce has done a tremendous job in creating business opportunities in the region, Airlines PNG (APNG) chief executive Muralee Siva said.

He said APNG was pleased to provide the travel services needed to underpin their initiatives.

Siva said when the airline began daily services to Madang and Wewak last May, it received overwhelming support from the Madang community.

During a meeting with the chamber recently, Siva outlined some of the airline’s 2013 highlights, with on time performance for departures exceeding 83%, the introduction of a new Dash 8 last May and more aircraft acquisitions scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

He said:“It was great to meet with local business leaders and to hear their plans to further enhance business opportunities in the region.

“Airlines PNG has partnered Global Travel, one of PNG’s leading travel agencies, and we really appreciate their professionalism and commitment to the Madang community,” Siva added.

APNG  has daily direct services between Lae and Madang and then on to Wewak, departing Lae at 2.45pm and arriving in Madang at 3.20pm and into Wewak at 4.40pm.

Return services depart Wewak at 7.30am and arrive in Madang at 8.20pm and into Lae at 9.25am, allowing connections through to Port Moresby or onto the New Guinea Islands.
