Champs Dockers maintain last year’s form

PORT Moresby Esi Loan AFL women’s reigning champions Dockers are going leaps and bounds for back-to-back premierships.
They have not lost their form with three wins out of four since the start of season.
Their only loss was to the rejuvenated Gordon Kokofas, the team they beat in the pre-season grand final three months ago.
The Kokofas, predominantly made up of students from Gordon Secondary School, will be their main rivals.
Despite their loss to the Kokofas in round two, the Dockers still appear to be a well-coordinated team with good footballers all over the park.
Papua New Guinea Flames spearhead Valeri Mai has been a sure goal-kicker for Dockers and she has so far made no mistakes in all her shots.
The Kerema lass will continue to be a stand-out with timely lead-outs and a brilliant marking ability.
On Saturday, Mai assisted with four goals to aid her team to a 9.13 (67) to 1.0 (6) victory over North Waigani Royals Tigers.
In the other women’s match on Sunday, a youthful Gordon Kokofas outfit nailed Concept Koboni 9.7 (61) to nil while Gerehu Magpies were on a bye.
Ladder: Round 4 – Kokofas 16, Dockers 12, Magpies 8, Tigers 4, Koboni 4.
