THE sixth National Souths Basketball League tournament is confirmed for Port Moresby from September 12-17.

The tournament will see defen­ding champions, Snax Souths (Mt Hagen) in men’s division and Menjals of Mendi (women) fighting to defend their crowns.

Senior player and coach Simon Dixie will be leading the Mt Hagen-based team for the championships.

National Souths Basketball Lea­gue president Silas Nicky, pictured, said the tournament in the capital city was expected to be bigger and bet­ter than the previous years.

Teams that have confirmed attendance are:  Popondetta Souths (Oro) Traisa Souths (Lae) Re-union Souths (POM) University of PNG Souths (POM) Surburban Souths (POM) Pesaps Souths (Mendi) Pangia Souths (Pangia) Welgris Souths (Hagen) Original Souths (Hagen) Snax Souths (Mt Hagen) Hekari Souths (KTBU) Iagifu Souths (KTBU) Isapea Souths (Kerema-Gulf).

Teams confirmed to take part are to deposit their K500 to:  Bank South Pacific account: 1003574637 National South B/Ball league and then fax their receipt to the organisers.
