Change causes hiccup at UPNG

Letters

THE recent political and administrative hiccups with University of PNG’s hierarchy has taken its toll on both new and continuing students wanting to enroll and start their academic year on time.
As a concerned parent of a student accepted at UPNG this year, I find it extremely frustrating that UPNG has not, first of all, sent out hard copy letters of offers to students accepted to study at UPNG.
Secondly, it is yet to clearly indicate the required tuition, boarding and lodging fees for students.
Some students received their offers online while others without access to phones and internet have yet to receive theirs.
The Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology also has not indicated how much it will subsidise the tuition and accommodation fees, to make matters worse.
This just goes on to show how ignorant and irresponsive the administration and management of the “premier institution” of this nation is.
How frustrating it is for students and parents as well.
Those outside of Port Moresby attempting to find out on the progress of the offers and fees did not even get any response from the administration.
The credibility of this institution is at stake.
No wonder the standard of learning at UPNG is declining.
