Change ministers

Letters

CONGRATULATIONS James Marape, Tari Pori MP.
A first-time Prime Minister and first from Hela and a young vibrant leader.
I feel obliged to as a citizen of PNG and am a strong believer in your new team and Pangu Pati which I have long been a fan of since childhood in the 80s to comment about your cabinet.
I would prefer you, as the PM and chairman of the Cabinet, to quickly make a few amends to the ministries you have allocated because it is evident that this was done in a rush and the pressure took its toll while allocating ministries over the last few weeks.
I suggest swap Maprik MP John Simon (agriculture) with Wabag MP Tom Lino (fisheries and marine resources).
Let Simon, who is from a coast, work on what is best for fisheries and marine resources while Lino, who is a very promising young leader like yourself, work on agriculture which is the backbone of the country.
Another suggested change, swap ministries for Sinasina MP Kerega Kua (petroleum) with Kikori MP Soroi Eoe (foreign affairs and international trade).
Kua is a foreign affairs and international trade man as he will have enormous influence in investors’ confidence.
For police, I am not questioning the capability of Bryan Kramer but I feel that if someone can successfully address all the police brutality, long outstanding cases etc, we need someone with human rights law background or a lawyer.
Give Kramer another ministry.

EK of Jiwaka,
Pom
