Change school uniforms in NCD

Letters

I WANT to raise a concern for education regarding school uniforms.
Short trousers and skirts should be the standard uniform for students in the National Capital District instead of long trousers.
Long trousers are not appropriate for our tropical hot climate.
Our students cannot be in long trousers when participating in extracurricular activities such as community service, agriculture and physical education.
Long trousers are more expensive than shorts and it is a contributing factor to big-boy and bully mentality.
The standard of education has dropped dramatically in our public schools and that includes students’ behaviour and the state of school infrastructures, especially toilets.
Wearing of shorts will create a conducive environment for learning whereby humidity won’t produce discomfort.
With shorts, student can be able to develop practical skills as well as benefit mentally and health wise through extra-curricular activities.
