NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop’s goal is to change the culture of the city.

He said Port Moresby residents and visitors must enjoy life in the city, adding that only a small number of criminals were trying to control life in the city.

“Our people want a free, secured city.

“Let’s not give into the minority of criminals,” he said.

Parkop said policing was a shared responsibility between the police and stakeholders in the city to contain lawlessness.

“Our goal is to make the city inclusive, safe and free where residents must be able to walk in the day and night in Port Moresby.

“We need to create innovative approaches to contain lawlessness in the city,” Parkop said.

He said NCDC had offered scholarships, short-term training and sports activities to men to become productive citizens.

“We must create more opportunities for our young men to keep them away from crime,” Parkop said.
