FOR the last 30 years or so, Tambul did not see any changes at all.

It was as if there was no MP representing Tambul-Nebilyer in the Haus Tambaran.

People have been changing one MP after another every five or 10 years.

The district headquarters used to be covered with thick grass.

The potholes on the road from Tomba to Tambul are as deep as our grandfather’s mumu pits.

To make the people happy, cash was distributed.

People travelling from Mendi to Mt Hagen call Tambul a ghost town or blackout town.

The people of Tambul-Nebilyer are crying for services and changes but nothing has taken place.

Finally, the cries of the people were heard by Benjamin Poponawa.

He has brought some progress and tried to ease the suffering of the people.

Recently, I went to Tambul to do my industrial training and I was amazed with what I saw.

I thought I would come to a town surrounded by tall elephant grass but flower beds greeted me.

The town was clean and from the market, I could clearly see the Tambul Elementary School.

Near the district office, were two towers, one for Digicel and the other bemobile.

One of the most important services to the people of Tambul-Nebilyer was the upgrading of roads in the district.

The section from Tomba to Tambul is being sealed while the section from Tambul to Piambil has been widened and other feeder roads upgraded and widened.

Keep up the good work, Poponawa.
