A WARD councillor in the Wampar local level government of Huon Gulf in Morobe, says an ambulance asked for money to transport his daughter’s body to his village in the area.
Wampar LLG Ward 9 councillor David Jacob said an ambulance in the Kome LLG charged him K700 to transport the body from the health centre to his village.
Jacob said the ambulance was presented to the LLG by the Morobe Governor Kelly Naru.
The driver charged Jacob K200 as allowance for the driver and K500 for the hire and fuel for the vehicle.
“This is a government service and should be used to serve the people.
“The government pays them to provide service. Why should they charge us for the services,” Jacob said.
He suggested that the government should send a review commission to create a new electorate along the west side of the city that would see the allocation of funds to cater for settlements in Lae.
