Chariots have to win
The National, Tuesday September 17th, 2013
ITS game two of the best of three series playoffs in the Papua New Guinea Men’s Basketball League at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex tonight.
Premiership favourite Exodus thumped champions Tamaraws 103-77 and newcomer Moresby West Jokers trumped Chariots 74-55.
Reigning champions Tamaraws and Chariots need to beat their opponents to force a game three.
If Tamaraws lose to Exodus, they get another chance to play the preliminary final against winners of the West Jokers/Chariots to decide who meets early grand finalists Exodus in the final series showdown.
The reigning champs failed to click and played second fiddle to the better organised opposition.
Tonight should be another ball game as Tamaraws captain Wally Parapa, Robert Kave and Richard Arava gear up to square the series against Apia, Dia and Purari Muri, who are responsible for the side’s big win last Thursday.
Both sides are determined to cement the first seat rather than playing the West Jokers/Chariots.
While West Jokers and Chariots battle on Thursday, it will be another big game as both sides know the outcome.
In the minor divisions, A grade Exodus booked the first grand final berth after downing West Jokers 55-35 in game 2. Chariots and Tamaraws are level 1- 1 and play game three to meet West Jokers in the preliminary final.
