Check Laloki, Goldie river

Letters

THERE is a lot of talks in the country about the slurry spill in Madang.
When will the Department of Environment and Conservation do something about the pollution of our Laloki and Goldie rivers.
Piggeries, timber producers and the general public washing vehicles in the rivers, some dumping heavy metals and poisonous chemicals such as used motor oil is highly carcinogenic and now in the waterways.
When was the last time any testing was done by the Department of Environment and Conservation in that area?
In addition to this, property owners along the Sogeri road who are allowing access to the river bed by vehicle owners should understand that while they may own the adjacent property, they do not own the river, the river bed.
