DIGICEL customers could now top up their cell phones at supermarket’s checkout counters.

This new electronic top up was introduced last Friday at the Super Value Stores Harbour City in Port Moresby.

The EPIN functions on the Pronto system – a software that is used at the checkout counters of SVS.

Once purchased, an EPIN receipt will be presented to the customer with the value of the top up, voucher number and serial number.

Customers then can locate “Recharge PIN number” on the receipt and dial *121*Recharge PIN Number# SEND to top up their phone.

Once the top up is completed, an SMS notification is received indicating a transaction has taken place.

SVS is the first store to introduce this service.

“It’s exciting to see it done so conveniently as it makes top up easy,” SVS managing director Hidajat Hanafi said.

Being a pilot programme, the new system will start with SVS’s Harbour City Store and later to other outlets at Koki and 2 Mile.
