Chief justice must not give in

I WOULD like to urge the chief justice not to step aside because he is the last bastion of hope for our Constitution and the rule of law in this nation.
He is a man of integrity and therefore must not be seen to be influenced by a government that is hell-bent on destroying the Constitution.
We have seen the police force come under the “evil spell” of the government, and the defence force and the public service have followed suit.
The public is fooled by free education and health service.
The government knows that this country is going to be injected with billions of kina from the LNG project and it knows that those within the corridors of power in Waigani will control this money.
Therefore, this government is trying to get rid of those standing in its way from such total control.
We know that the amount to be spent on free education and health services is peanuts compared to the amount that is going to come from the LNG project.
The government may fool the ignorant public and the learned ones may try to justify what they are doing, but we know otherwise.
Our strength as a sovereign nation comes from our Constitution as it is the backbone and it is dangerous if this government toys with it.
Therefore, PNG needs Sir Salamo Injia to be strong for it was not a mistake that he became the chief justice.
Sir Salamo and us must fight for what is right.
