IT was a day of celebrations for children at the Buk Bilong Pikinini Library in Port Moresby yesterday.
To mark Literacy Week, which ends today, more than 60 smiling faces beamed their pleasure when author Dianna Donigi read one of her books to them at the University of Papua New Guinea location.
Donigi presented two “big books and seven small reading books” to the library.
Buk Bilong Pikinini director Ali Nott praised Donigi’s gesture.
She said the books would be helpful for children, particularly as they were suitable for the PNG culture.
She said the books could be used during special occasions.
Nott said the library was privileged at obtaining such books.
Head librarian Wari Korona said the UPNG Buk Bilong Pikinini Library served children from Baruni, National Research Institute, Rainbow, Gerehu and parts of Morata.
