CHILDREN must grow up in safe and secure homes so that they are confident to face life when they become adults, East Sepik Council of Women president Sophie Mangai says. She said this following the Children’s Day celebration in Wewak on Thursday that many children were being brought up in homes where abuse and violence were common. She said the World Children’s Day was recognised annually to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide and improving children’s welfare. She said children should be treated with care by their parents.
Children from Wewak Hill Elementary School and Wewak Beteny Hill School took part.
The theme was “respect children’s human rights and dignity”.
The Universal Children’s Day is observed as a day of worldwide fraternity.
