A GROUP of people in Chimbu province yesterday marched into Kundiawa town protesting against the government’s suspension of National Planning and Monitoring secretary Dr Peter Gallah Kora.

They presented a petition to Governor Noah Kool to pass on to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill. They want O’Neill to immediately reinstate Kora to the post.

The people arrived from the six districts with banners and placards calling for the reinstatement of Kora.

One of the banners stated “No Kora, No LNG”

Kool promised to deliver the petition to O’Neill.

Chuave MP Wera Mori was also given a copy of the petition.

Kool and Mori said they would try to find out why Kora, a Chimbu native, was suspended.

Kool said Chimbu relied heavily on human resources and the suspension of Kora was uncalled for and the province wanted to work with him on development.

Kundiawa Police Station Commander, Inspector Michael Welsh said the march was peaceful.

Chairman of the working committee Peter Launa said other prominent leaders from the province had either been suspended or sacked.

“Enough is enough. We want Dr Kora to be reinstated immediately,” Launa said.

The petition also calls for an open apology from the prime minister.
