Chimbu tops service list

 CHIMBU has been judged the top province in the delivery of basic services in priority sectors in the Highlands region.

National Economy Fiscal Commission chief executive officer Hohora Suve revealed that during a conference in Lae last week. 

The average trend analysis of the top five provinces from 2005 to 2013 measured in percentages were: Simbu (71.5), Madang (70.2), Milne Bay (70.1), Manus (67.3) and East New Britain (65.4).

Simbu’s fiscal capacity was 91 per cent with an overall score of 70 per cent. 

In the essential sectors, the chart indicates that transport infrastructure was 98 per cent, education 79 per cent, health 62 per cent and primary production 25 per cent.

The administration spending performance level was 138 per cent with the spending trend going ‘up’.

The spending performance for health was medium and spending trend going up.
