‘Chimbu untouched by quake’

CHIMBU remains uninterrupted by earthquakes in the central Highlands area, says provincial administrator Joe Kunda.
He warned public servants in the districts working in schools, health and other government establishments not use the earthquake excuse to stay away from work.
“There are no reports of devastation in the province, no public servant should leave their work places giving excuses of the earthquake disaster,” Kunda said. He said a thorough assessment for possible damage and destructions in the six districts of Chimbu was done but found nothing unusual.
However, the province remains on alert as it has some of the highest peaks or mountains in the country.
“We have learnt lessons from what is happening in the interior part of the Highlands region, especially Hela, Southern Highlands and Enga,” Kunda said.
