Chiyoda in ‘ops mode’

CHIYODA Corp of Japan is moving into “operations mode” to begin preparatory ground work on the PNG LNG two-train liquefied natural gas project outside Port Moresby.
Chiyoda’s front man in negotiations to win the contract, Yusuji Ichinose, is preparing to handover the operational part of the project to his technical team by the New Year.
He is director business development for Chiyoda Oceania Pty Ltd, based in Perth, Western Australia, but also has an office in Brisbane where he meticulously led negotiations and formed a joint venture with another Japanese group, JGC, to win the lucrative US$4.5 million (K12 million) contract ahead of a number of other bidders including Becktel.
He told The National last weekend he had travelled to PNG where he organised the necessary arrangements to hand over to the project operation team to start engineering work and  marshalling of plant, equipment and manpower to begin construction work – something they’re experienced at doing all over the world.
A statement released by Mr Inchinose said Chiyoda – JGC Joint Venture were prepared to execute the project efficiently with their combined proven technologies and accumulated management experiences with LNG projects.
