MORE than 100 kids from the Tembari Children’s Centre at the ATS (Air Transport Squadron) block two in Port Moresby were in for a pleasant surprise when Santa Claus visited them with gifts over the weekend.
It was part of a Christmas visit organised by RH (Rimbunan Hijau) PNG Trading Ltd in collaboration with Travel Planners and Star Office and Bakers Choice through RH’s community outreach programme called “RH Care”.
The children at the centre were given food, toys, stationery and other essentials and goodies.
RH human resources and administration manager Daneilla Tio told The National that the Christmas visit was an annual event.
“However, we also visit once or twice during the year to give other donations and support,” she said.
“As lead up to this visit, we took the children to watch a movie at the cinema on Thursday.
“We also visited other care centres like the Life Care PNG and Cheshire Home.
We have donation cages set up in our stores from which donated items are given out through the outreach programme.”
Founder, director and chairman of the Tembari Children’s Care Centre Hayward Saoembo said: “The centre is a community-based orphanage and has a lot of partners and RH is the major one. We are only running the care, counselling and health programmes.”
